Check Out a GCS Digital Book!
We have eBooks and eAudiobooks in our Learning Commons' collection! Have you checked one out yet? It's very easy as long as you have a computer or mobile device and your Destiny account login credentials.
Before we begin there though, I want to share with you our GCS Learning Commons webpage on the school's website. I've provided what I hope would be everything you need to access our digital libraries. If you don't know what a digital library is, it's just a collection of materials (a library) online. Digital is another way of saying electronic which means using technology and in this case the Internet stores the materials you or I will be accessing to read or to listen.

Now, are you ready to find out how to access our digital books?!
1. Visit our Destiny Discover online catalog here.
2. Enter your Destiny login (hint: it's the same as your Renaissance login).
3. There are many ways to search, but the easiest way to find the eBooks or eAudiobooks is to scroll down until you see the ribbon (horizontal band of images) labels eBooks and eAudiobooks.
4. Click on See All in the upper right of the ribbon to see all the eBooks for example. The same See All option is available for eAudiobooks.
5. When you find the one you want to check out, click the Check Out button. If you click the Open button, it will allow you to access the content. However, if another patron checks out that same copy, you will no longer have access to it. Selecting Check Out gives you the loan of that copy until it is due. The cool thing about a digital check out is when it comes due, it is automatically returned. The only time you need to return a digital copy to the digital library is if you are finished with it before the due date. You simply click Return next to the item in your account. Cool, right?!
6. After your selected Check Out, you can now click Open (if it's an eBook) or Play (if it's an eAudiobook). Happy reading!
7. Extra info--The Favorite button is if you want to add a copy to your favorites list. This list is located in the menu (three lines in the top left corner of Destiny Discover. You click that menu icon and then select Favorites to view all copies you added to your list. You can at any time select Unfavorite from a copy to remove it from your list.
8. When you are finished reading the book, please select Return so others can check it out.
9. Another extra--Write a review of the book so your peers and even teachers can read a review of the book. I'll have a tutorial for adding a review to Destiny Discover, but here is the short of it. Click on a copy to view it's record (all the information about the copy). Towards the bottom of the record it says Review. Click that word and it will show you a list of reviews (if any exist), but it will also say Add Review. Click those words and complete the review options. Don't forget to click Submit Review. You will not see your review right away because it is delivered to me so I can proofread it. Please choose your words carefully and make it appropriate for all ages to read.
