Don't Forget Your iPad!

Students with school issued iPads should be bringing their iPad to the library. I'm encouraging you to bring your iPad for several good reasons:

1. The library's catalog is online, and if you have your iPad, you don't have to wait to browse it. Once you find the book or magazine you want, you have the call number on our iPad's screen to take with you to the shelves or rack. No paper and writing utensil needed to jot down the call number.

2. You can login to your Destiny library account via the Destiny Quest app and see what you currently have checked out, on hold, or best of all...what you have on your Destiny Quest bookshelves! If you haven't checked out the bookshelves feature in Destiny Quest, you are missing out. You can browse the catalog anytime or anywhere when you are connected wirelessly, and add books, magazines, and eBooks to your Read It, Want to Read It, Reading Now bookshelves. Don't spend all your time browsing the catalog while in the library to check out anymore. Now you can look at your Destiny Quest bookshleves and find materials quickly so you have more time to read, browse displays, and more.

3. You can check out eBooks using Follett Shelf in Destiny and read immediately. See Follett Shelf Instructions tutorial post.

4. Write a book review on Destiny Quest. Every time you finish a book or eBook from the library, I encourage and even challenge you to give the book you finished reading a star rating and a brief summary with your opinion of the book. You want to include what type of reader (i.e. age range, gender, interests) you think would enjoy the book also. How to write a good book review post coming soon--Stay tuned! Book reviews can be read by all library patrons and this is a great way to read your peers' reviews of books in our library. Fun fact: You can also recommend books to your peers if you think he or she might enjoy a book you just read.

Our library is striving to meet the needs and demands of the digital era. Your library staff and teachers are vessels of knowledge and want you to use the technology and resources our school makes available to the students and parents. It's up to you to take advantage of the technology and resources at your disposal to increase your knowledge bank and better yourself for the extraordinary life ahead of you. Never be afraid to ask for help from the library staff. We are here to serve you!
