Book Care

It is very important for students to take care of their library mateirals (i.e., books and magazines). The reason being not just to avoid fines, but to ensure that all students and teachers have the opportunity to borrow the same materials. The library offers services and mateirals for the entire school to utilize. It can be easy to forgot that fact when one borrows a new book he or she has been waiting to read, for example.

Students, remember, you are responsible for the condition of your library material from the moment you check it out. Please do not let your friends, siblings, classmates, or anyone other than you borrow the books and/or magazine you checked out. It is kind to let others share your toys, electronics, and other personal property, but library materials are not your "permanent" personal property. It would be unfortunate if the person you chose to lend your library material to damaged or lost it because the burden of paying to replace it becomes yours alone.

Parents, please help your child remember to return his or her library materials on time to avoid it becoming lost. Make a written reminder for your child to put library mateirals in his or her backpack the night before check out day. Books and magazines need to be protected from food, drinks, weather, pets, and little children who don't know any better than to color on whatever surface they find. Have a designated safe place to house your child's library materials at home where siblings and pets cannot get to them.

All Holy Rosary students in grades K-8 have the priviledge of borrowing from our school library. However, only students in grade 3-8 are permitted to take their library materials home. Everyone has the priviledge of applying for a library card at their Jacksonville Public Library (JPL) branch. If you would like more information on library card services from JPL, click here.
