New Arrivals Displays

Well, boys and girls...it is a new month, and the second month of school. That means you have been to the library to check out at least a couple of times. Have you seen the displays around the library? What kind of displays have you noticed?

You should have noticed a New Arrivals book display which are new books that have been added to our library's collection. Those books can be fiction or nonfiction. Once those books are borrowed for the first time and returned, they are typically shelved. That means if you are looking for a new arrival that is no longer part of the new arrivals display, you should check it's section and shelf (A.K.A. it's home) for it. By the way, A.K.A. stands for "also known as."

Have you noticed any other types of displays? Well, the most obvious is the Magazines display, but that can also be categorized as a section. The magazines display is always in the same place (on the wall near the restroom). This display does change as students browse the magazines and change the order of the issues. Our magazine subscriptions should always be found in the same slots, but when new issues arrive the newest issues are placed in the front of it's slot. Tip: Look at the call number on a magazine to see it's month and year issue date.

There are other book displays that you will see over the course of the school year. The displays are meant to show you what you might want to read (typically new arrivals or seasonal titles) and what book titles might not be found very much. There are plenty of books in our library to keep you reading all year and all the year's you attend HRCS.

You can always let your library staff know what titles or genres of books you would like to see in our library. Email your suggestions to holyrosarylibrary@gmail.com or leave a comment below.

As always--Happy Reading!!!

Here is a sneak peak at the new arrivals you will soon find in our library. Coming soon...
